Charges dropped for former city councilmember

Former Hamtramck City Councilmember Ian Perrotta

By Charles Sercombe
Former city councilmember Ian Perrotta is no longer facing criminal charges.
Last July, both Ian and his twin brother, Andrew, who are 38, were charged with felonies involving a domestic assault incident.
Ian Perrotta, who is an attorney, was not directly involved in the alleged assault, but he was charged with home invasion — a felony — and stalking, a misdemeanor, involving a woman the brothers both knew.
Recently, charges against him were dismissed. Details as to why charges were dismissed were not immediately available from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges stemmed from an alleged assault, for which his brother Andrew is still facing charges.
The exact charge is one of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder – a felony. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault, domestic violence.
Both brothers have denied wrongdoing.
Andrew Perrotta’s next court appearance has been scheduled for next February.
Locally, the brothers co-own Trixie’s bar on Carpenter.
