The recent sale of three Conant properties by the city was pretty shady from the get-go.
And now a councilmember is suing two of his fellow councilmembers to stop the sale.
Councilmember Mohammed Alsomiri is contending that two of the four councilmembers who approved the sale, Abu Musa and Muhtasin Sadman, are related to one of the buyers of the properties.
Alsomiri is also saying that the sale price of $100,000 is far below a market value that he estimates at closer to $400,000 – money that would go into the city’s budget.
One of the Conant properties is the former Kabob House restaurant – which seems worth far more than $100,000 just by itself, considering today’s real estate market.
Neither Musa nor Sadman have replied to The Review with any comments on the accusations leveled by Councilmember Alsomiri.
Folks, this is your money that the city council is making decisions about, and it’s the public’s right to have full accountability on this issue. So far, we have not heard a word from city management about this subject, which is distressing to say the least.
Is anyone who is in charge going to explain to the public what’s going on here?
The whole deal smells rotten, folks, and it’s high time public officials account for themselves and their decisions.
Taxpayers deserve an honest inquiry into this sale.
