Faces from the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival 2016

By Charles Sercombe

One of our favorite pastimes at the festival is people watching.
There are so many interesting faces and people who live and visit Hamtramck. Festival weekend offers a special opportunity to take it all in.

  1. Thanks to 37th District Court Chief Judge John Chmura, chairman, for keeping the Hamtramck Polish Labor Day Parade alive. Join us when the parade committee roasts Grand Marshall Dennis Dale McLain, #17, Detroit Tiger Cy Young Award winner, MVP, and only MLB pitcher to win 31 games in one season, since 1920! The roast is scheduled for May 10th at the Polish Cultural Center, 15 Mile and Dequinder. Tickets available now, call 586 795 3137. Join roasters Tom Matchik, Jon Worden, Mayor Jim Fouts, and 1961 Hamtramck Pony League World Series player St. Lads’ Tom Paciorek, and M C Eli Zaret when they dissect former Tiger and Polish by his Mother’s blood Denny Mclain. Support your Hamtramck Labor Day Parade. It’s yours!

  2. Lots of faces – almost like a true reflection of Hamtramck.
